Software

OK, I have decided that I will write my own software for learning Chinese.. I will tentatively call it MemChin (short for Memorise Chinese).

My first task is to plan exactly what I’m going to do and how I’m going to do it. Of course I already have some ideas because I’ve been thinking about this for a couple of weeks now.

John,

Depending on your own programming experiance, I think you should really take a look at ZDT
It is open for development, modifiying this software (or better still providing a seperate plugin with the functionality you want) is about the easiest way forward. Unless you are already an expert in some other programming language.

Chris,

Actually my experience is rather limited. My background is more in electronics than software. I know some C++, Visual C++ and Visual Basic, but thats about it. I'm sure I could learn more but at the moment I want to concentrate my studies on learning Mandarin.

All I intend to do is write something very very simple that wont require me to put a lot of time into it. It will probably take me forever to finish it anyway.

Besides half the reason I want to do it is just for the fun of it.
